TNF-α Inhibitor

TNF-α inhibitors are medications that block tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), a protein involved in inflammation and immune system responses. By targeting and reducing TNF-α activity, these drugs help decrease chronic inflammation caused by autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and Crohn’s disease. They can slow disease progression and alleviate symptoms such as pain, swelling, and tissue damage. TNF-α inhibitors are typically given by injection or infusion under medical supervision, and while effective, they may increase the risk of infections due to immune suppression.
