Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy
Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD) is a rare genetic disorder that affects the nervous system, particularly in young children. It leads to the degeneration of nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord, causing a range of symptoms such as difficulty walking, poor muscle control, and vision problems. INAD is caused by mutations in specific genes and usually presents in infancy or early childhood. Unfortunately, there is currently no cure, and the condition often leads to significant developmental challenges and a shortened lifespan. Supportive care can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life for affected individuals.
