Immune mediated diseases

Immune-mediated diseases occur when the immune system, which normally protects the body from infections, mistakenly attacks its own tissues or organs. This incorrect response can lead to inflammation, damage, or impaired function of different body parts. Such conditions include rheumatoid arthritis, where joints are affected; lupus, impacting multiple organs; and psoriasis, involving the skin. These diseases involve a complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors, and management often requires medications to control inflammation and modulate the immune response. Essentially, the immune system's error in recognizing self as harmful causes the symptoms and damage associated with these illnesses.
