Identity Status Theory
Identity Status Theory explains how people develop a clear sense of who they are through different stages of exploring and committing to personal beliefs, values, and goals. There are four main stages: "identity diffusion" (uncertain and not exploring), "identity foreclosure" (committing without exploring), "moratorium" (actively exploring options), and "identity achievement" (exploring and then confidently deciding). The theory describes how this process varies over time and influences adult behaviors, helping us understand personal growth and decision-making throughout life.
