IceCube

IceCube is a large scientific experiment located at the South Pole, designed to detect high-energy neutrinos—tiny, nearly massless particles that travel close to the speed of light. Comprising over 5,000 sensor balls buried deep in the ice, IceCube observes the interactions of neutrinos with the ice to learn more about their origins, such as supernovae and black holes. By studying these elusive particles, scientists hope to gain insights into fundamental astrophysical processes and the universe's mysteries, contributing to our understanding of cosmic events and the nature of matter and energy.
