IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) Surgery

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) includes conditions like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, which cause chronic inflammation of the digestive tract. When medication and other treatments fail, surgery may be necessary. In colorectal surgery for IBD, doctors may remove damaged sections of the intestine, create a new connection for digestion, or establish an ostomy (an opening for waste outside the body). The goal of surgery is to relieve symptoms, prevent complications, and improve quality of life. Though surgery isn’t a cure, it can significantly help manage the disease for many patients.
