Hypatia

Hypatia was a prominent philosopher, mathematician, and astronomer in ancient Alexandria, Egypt, during the early 4th century AD. She is known for her expertise in areas like mathematics and philosophy, particularly Neoplatonism, and for her role as a teacher and intellectual leader. Hypatia is one of the first women known to have made significant contributions to mathematics; she is often remembered for her writings and lectures. Tragically, she became a symbol of knowledge and tolerance when she was murdered in 415 AD during a period of political and religious turmoil, representing the decline of classical knowledge.
