Hydrostatic Weighing
Hydrostatic weighing is a method to measure body fat by comparing your weight on land to your weight submerged in water. Since muscle and bone are denser than fat, fat floats, while muscle sinks slightly. When you’re submerged, the water's buoyant force reduces your apparent weight, allowing calculation of your body density. From this, body fat percentage is estimated. The process is accurate because it directly assesses body composition through water displacement, making it a reliable and scientifically accepted method for determining how much fat versus lean tissue you have.
