Hyder Ali was a prominent 18th-century Indian military commander and ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore. Rising from a military background, he became the de facto leader around 1761 and later officially ruled Mysore, transforming it into a strong, centralized state. Known for his strategic brilliance and modernization efforts, Hyder Ali fought against the British East India Company to maintain Mysore's independence. His leadership strengthened the kingdom's military and political influence in southern India.
