Human Rights Convention

The Human Rights Convention, formally known as the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), is a treaty created by the Council of Europe to protect individuals' fundamental rights and freedoms. Adopted in 1950, it establishes rights such as the right to life, freedom from torture, the right to a fair trial, and freedom of expression. Countries that sign the convention commit to uphold these rights and allow individuals to seek justice in the European Court of Human Rights if they believe their rights have been violated. This framework aims to ensure human dignity and promote democracy across Europe.
