The Human Rights Committee is a group of independent experts that monitors the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, a key human rights treaty. The Committee is made up of 18 members, elected by the countries that are party to the Covenant. These members come from diverse backgrounds and are chosen for their expertise in human rights law, international law, or related fields.
