
Hugh S. Johnson
Hugh S. Johnson was an American businessman and government official in the early 20th century. During the Great Depression, he played a key role as the head of the National Recovery Administration (NRA) under Franklin D. Roosevelt, aimed at boosting the economy and improving industrial practices through voluntary cooperation among businesses and labor. Johnson also founded the American Plan, promoting employer-led efforts to prevent unionization. His work was central to New Deal policies, blending government intervention with private enterprise to address economic challenges.
