House of Lords (UK)

The House of Lords is one of the two chambers in the UK Parliament, the other being the House of Commons. It reviews and revises legislation proposed by the Commons, providing expertise and scrutiny. Members of the House of Lords, known as Lords, are not elected; they include life peers, bishops, and hereditary peers. The House of Lords can suggest amendments and debate laws, but it cannot ultimately block legislation. Its role is to ensure laws are well-considered and to represent various interests within society, contributing to the democratic process in the UK.
