Homo floresiensis
Homo floresiensis, often called the "Flores Hobbit," is an extinct human species discovered on the Indonesian island of Flores. It lived about 100,000 to 60,000 years ago and is notable for its small stature, standing about 3.5 feet tall, and having a brain roughly the size of a lemon. Despite its size, it used stone tools and shows evidence of complex behavior. Its unique features suggest it evolved separately from other humans, possibly due to island dwarfism, where species become smaller over time in isolated environments. Homo floresiensis provides important insights into human evolution and diversity.
