History of the Holocaust
The Holocaust was a systematic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime in Germany and its collaborators from 1941 to 1945 during World War II. It also targeted other groups, including Roma, disabled individuals, Poles, and political dissidents. Adolf Hitler, who rose to power in 1933, promoted the idea of Aryan racial superiority, leading to discriminatory laws, ghettos, and ultimately extermination camps. The Holocaust represents one of history's darkest chapters, highlighting the consequences of hatred, racism, and indifference, and serves as a crucial reminder of the need for tolerance and human rights.
