hirsutism

Hirsutism is a condition where women develop excessive, coarse hair growth in areas where men typically grow hair, such as the face, chest, or back. It occurs because of an imbalance of hormones called androgens, like testosterone, which stimulate hair growth. This can be caused by factors like hormonal disorders, certain medications, or underlying health issues such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Hirsutism can be distressing and affects quality of life, but it is treatable through medications, hair removal methods, or addressing the underlying cause.
