Hip Resurfacing
Hip resurfacing is a surgical procedure that addresses hip joint problems, particularly arthritis, by replacing the damaged surface of the hip joint with a prosthetic implant. Unlike total hip replacement, which removes the entire hip joint, resurfacing retains more of the bone. This technique involves capping the femoral head (the ball part of the hip joint) with a metal implant and replacing the socket with a larger, more durable lining. Hip resurfacing is often preferred for younger, more active patients as it allows for greater mobility and has the potential for a better range of motion compared to traditional replacements.
