Hillary Step
The Hillary Step is a famous rock face located near the summit of Mount Everest, at an altitude of about 8,760 meters (28,740 feet). Named after climber Sir Edmund Hillary, it represents one of the last major challenges for those attempting to reach Everest’s peak. The Step is steep and requires technical climbing skills, making it a critical point for climbers. In recent years, it has been reported that a significant earthquake in 2015 may have altered or even removed the Step, changing the dynamics of the ascent for future climbers.
