High Jump
The high jump is a track and field event where athletes aim to leap over a horizontal bar set at various heights. Contestants approach the bar with a running start and use a technique, often the Fosbury Flop, to clear it. The jumper must take off from one foot, go over the bar without touching it, and land safely on a cushioned mat. Competitors are eliminated if they fail to clear the bar three times at a given height. The event tests athleticism, technique, and timing, and is a staple at major sporting events like the Olympics.
