Herbert Hoover

Herbert Hoover was the 31st President of the United States, serving from 1929 to 1933, just as the Great Depression began. Before his presidency, he was a successful mining engineer and humanitarian, notably helping with food relief in Europe after World War I. However, his response to the economic crisis is often viewed as inadequate; he believed in limited government intervention. This perception contributed to his loss in the 1932 election to Franklin D. Roosevelt. Hoover’s legacy is mixed, with his humanitarian efforts recognized despite his struggles during one of America's toughest economic periods.
