America First Committee
The America First Committee was an influential organization formed in 1940 in the United States, primarily advocating for isolationism before World War II. Its main goal was to keep the U.S. out of the conflict, arguing that involvement would be detrimental to national interests. The committee attracted a diverse membership, including prominent figures, and emphasized the importance of focusing on domestic issues. Its influence waned after the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, which shifted public opinion towards supporting the war effort, ultimately leading to the dissolution of the committee.
