Henry Darger

Henry Darger was an American artist and writer, known for his vast and unique body of work created in isolation. Born in 1892, he lived much of his life in a Chicago institutional setting. Darger is best recognized for his epic fantasy novel, "The Story of the Vivian Girls," which features elaborate illustrations and tells the tale of a battle between good and evil involving child-like characters. His work, notable for its intricate drawings and imaginative narratives, only gained recognition after his death in 1973, influencing the fields of outsider art and American folk art.
