Haemophilus influenzae
Haemophilus influenzae is a type of bacteria that can cause various infections, particularly in young children and people with weakened immune systems. It can lead to illnesses such as pneumonia, meningitis, and ear infections. There are different strains, some of which are more harmful than others, particularly type b (Hib), which was once a common cause of severe diseases. Vaccination has significantly reduced Hib infections. Generally, H. influenzae is spread through respiratory droplets, and while some strains are harmless, it's important to be aware of the serious infections it can cause.
