H-4 Hercules

The H-4 Hercules, also known as the Spruce Goose, is a large seaplane designed by Howard Hughes during World War II. Intended to transport troops and supplies, it was made almost entirely of plywood due to wartime restrictions on metal. The H-4 is famous for its massive size—it has the largest wingspan of any aircraft ever built. Although it only flew once, on November 2, 1947, the flight was significant in aviation history, demonstrating innovative engineering and the potential for large aircraft. It symbolizes ambitious design and the evolution of aviation technology.
