Guy of Lusignan
Guy of Lusignan was a 12th-century nobleman from France who became King of Jerusalem through marriage and political alliances. His reign was marked by conflicts with neighboring Muslim states and internal divisions, most notably during the Crusades. His leadership was controversial; he is often blamed for decisions that contributed to key defeats, including the famous loss at the Battle of Hattin in 1187, which led to the fall of Jerusalem to Muslim forces. Despite these setbacks, Guy remained a significant figure in the history of the Crusades, embodying the complex and often tumultuous nature of medieval Crusader politics and warfare.
