Guru Arjan
Guru Arjan was the fifth Sikh Guru, revered for compiling the first official Sikh scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib, which contains hymns and teachings of Sikh Gurus and other saints. He played a vital role in developing Sikhism’s spiritual and organizational foundation, promoting equality, compassion, and devotion to God. Guru Arjan also established the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar, a central place of worship for Sikhs. His leadership emphasized humility, service, and standing up against injustice, and he is remembered for his dedication to faith and community, even enduring martyrdom for his beliefs.
