Guru Amar Das was the third of the ten Sikh Gurus, born in 1479 in Punjab, India. He is known for emphasizing social equality, introducing the practice of community kitchens (langar), and advocating for women's rights. His teachings focused on devotion to one God, selfless service, and the importance of community. Guru Amar Das compiled the hymns of earlier Gurus and took significant steps to organize the Sikh community. He also established rituals and practices to strengthen Sikh identity, and his legacy continues to inspire millions around the world today. He served as Guru from 1552 until his death in 1574.
