Grypania

Grypania is one of the earliest known complex multicellular organisms, dating back to around 2.1 billion years ago. It is often recognized by its distinctive, coiled, and wrinkled shape, resembling a large, curled leaf or ribbon. Found in ancient rock formations, Grypania provides important clues about early life on Earth, indicating that multicellular organisms emerged much earlier than previously thought. Its existence suggests a diverse ecosystem during the Proterozoic Eon, highlighting the gradual evolution from simple to more complex life forms.
