Great Zimbabwe
Great Zimbabwe was a powerful medieval city in present-day Zimbabwe, known for its impressive stone architecture, particularly the Great Enclosure and the Hill Complex. Flourishing from the 11th to 15th centuries, it was the center of a trading empire that connected East Africa with the interior, engaging in trade of gold, ivory, and other goods. The city was a hub of political and economic activity, demonstrating advanced social organization. Its decline in the 15th century marked the shift of power to other regions, but Great Zimbabwe remains a significant symbol of African heritage and historical achievement.
