Gravity Waves
Gravity waves, or gravitational waves, are ripples in the fabric of space and time caused by massive objects accelerating, like merging black holes or neutron stars. Predicted by Einstein’s theory of general relativity, these waves travel at the speed of light and carry information about their origins. When they pass through Earth, they cause tiny changes in distances between objects. Detected for the first time in 2015, gravitational waves open a new window for understanding the universe, allowing scientists to observe cosmic events that are invisible to traditional telescopes.
