Goths
The Goths were a group of Germanic tribes that played a significant role in the decline of the Roman Empire. In the early centuries AD, they migrated from Scandinavia and settled in various parts of Europe. Notably, they divided into two main branches: the Visigoths and the Ostrogoths. The Visigoths famously sacked Rome in 410 AD, while the Ostrogoths established a kingdom in Italy. Their interactions with the Romans influenced the cultural and political landscape of Europe, helping to pave the way for the medieval period. The term "Gothic" has also been used to describe an architectural style and a cultural movement in the modern era.
