Goodman Theory
Goodman’s Theory, often referred to as the "New Riddle of Induction," addresses how we can make generalizations about the future based on past experiences. It highlights a problem with using past observations to predict future occurrences, emphasizing that different ways of categorizing evidence can lead to different conclusions. For example, if we assume that all emeralds are green based on past observations, Goodman challenges this by introducing the idea of "grue" (objects that are green before a certain time and blue afterward), showing that our criteria for induction can influence what we consider true or false.
