Giovanni Falcone was an Italian judge and anti-mafia prosecutor known for his relentless fight against organized crime, particularly the Sicilian Mafia (Cosa Nostra) in the 1980s and 1990s. He gained fame for his innovative legal strategies, such as using informants and wiretaps to gather evidence. His work culminated in significant prosecutions and the landmark Maxi Trial, which convicted hundreds of mafiosi. Tragically, Falcone was assassinated in 1992 by the Mafia in a car bomb attack. His legacy endures in Italy and beyond, symbolizing the struggle for justice and the rule of law against criminal organizations.
