GIFT (Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer)

Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT) is an assisted reproductive technology used to help couples conceive. In this procedure, eggs and sperm are collected and then placed directly into a woman's fallopian tubes. This allows fertilization to occur naturally within the body, rather than in a lab, as is done in in vitro fertilization (IVF). GIFT is typically used when there are specific fertility issues, such as blocked fallopian tubes or unexplained infertility. It requires healthy eggs and sperm and usually occurs shortly after ovulation to maximize chances of conception.
