Gamete intrafallopian transfer

Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT) is a medical procedure to help couples conceive. It involves collecting eggs from the woman and fertilizing them with sperm outside the body. The resulting fertilized eggs, called zygotes, are then gently placed directly into the woman's fallopian tubes using a thin catheter. This allows fertilization to occur naturally within the uterus, increasing the chances of pregnancy. GIFT is often used when other fertility treatments haven't worked or when couples prefer a method that closely mimics natural conception. It requires careful timing and is performed under sedation or anesthesia.
