Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders

Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (FGIDs) are conditions that affect how the digestive system works, causing symptoms like pain, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation, without any visible structural abnormalities. Common examples include Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Functional Dyspepsia. These disorders can be triggered by stress, diet, or other factors, and while they can cause significant discomfort, they do not lead to serious diseases like cancer. Diagnosis often involves ruling out other conditions, and treatment may include diet changes, medications, and stress management techniques to improve quality of life.
