Frozen shoulder

Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition where the shoulder becomes stiff, painful, and movement is significantly restricted. It occurs when the shoulder capsule—the tissue surrounding the shoulder joint—becomes inflamed and thickened, leading to tightening and scarring. This often develops gradually and can result from injury, long periods of immobility, or underlying health issues like diabetes. The main symptoms are shoulder pain and a gradual loss of motion. Treatment typically involves physical therapy, pain management, and, in some cases, corticosteroid injections or surgery to restore mobility.
