Friction of Distance
Friction of distance refers to the concept that distance creates barriers or difficulties in interactions, movement, or communication between places or people. Essentially, the greater the distance, the more challenges there are, such as time, cost, and effort required to overcome that distance. This can affect travel, trade, relationships, and information exchange. For example, it’s easier and cheaper to do business within a city than between countries, as the latter involves higher travel costs, longer times, and additional logistical obstacles. In essence, distance makes interactions less convenient and more complicated.
