freshwater availability

Freshwater availability refers to the supply of water suitable for drinking, agriculture, and sanitation that is not salty. Although about 71% of the Earth's surface is covered with water, only about 2.5% of that is freshwater. Most of this freshwater is locked in glaciers or underground aquifers, leaving only about 1% accessible in rivers and lakes. Human activities, climate change, and population growth are putting increasing pressure on these limited resources, which can lead to water scarcity in many regions. Sustainable management is crucial for ensuring that we have enough freshwater for future generations.
