Frequency Modulation (theory)

Frequency Modulation (FM) is a method of encoding information in a carrier wave by varying its frequency. Instead of changing the amplitude (loudness), as in Amplitude Modulation (AM), FM alters the distance between the wave peaks. This technique improves sound quality and reduces interference, making FM popular for radio broadcasts and audio transmission. For instance, when you tune into an FM radio station, the variations in frequency correspond to the sounds of music or voice, delivering clearer and more accurate audio than older methods.
