Framingham Study cohorts

The Framingham Study is a long-term research project that began in 1948 in Framingham, Massachusetts. It was designed to understand cardiovascular disease by tracking the health of thousands of residents over generations. The original cohort consisted of about 5,200 adults, and since then, additional groups, including their children and grandchildren, have been added. Researchers collect data on health habits, medical history, and lifestyle factors to identify risk factors for heart disease, stroke, and other conditions. The findings have significantly influenced public health guidelines and our understanding of chronic diseases.
