Foster Care Independence Act

The Foster Care Independence Act, enacted in 1999, aims to support young people transitioning out of the foster care system into independent living. It provides resources and funding for services such as education, job training, and housing assistance for youth aged 18 to 21. The Act recognizes that many young adults face challenges when they age out of foster care and seeks to ensure they have the skills and support needed to achieve self-sufficiency and successful adulthood. This legislation helps empower foster youth by offering them the opportunity to build a stable future.
