Firefox OS was an open-source mobile operating system developed by Mozilla, designed to run on smartphones and other devices. Unlike mainstream systems like Android or iOS, it relied heavily on web technologies such as HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript. This approach aimed to provide a flexible, customizable user experience while being lightweight. Firefox OS promoted the idea of applications that run directly in a web browser, allowing for easier development and updates. Despite initial enthusiasm, the platform struggled to gain significant market share and was discontinued in 2016.
