Fine-needle technique
The fine-needle technique, often referred to as fine-needle aspiration (FNA), is a medical procedure used to collect small samples of tissue or fluid from a lump or mass in the body. A thin, hollow needle is inserted precisely into the area of concern, allowing a doctor to extract cells or fluid for examination. This minimally invasive technique is commonly used for diagnosing conditions such as cancer or infections, as it typically involves less discomfort and shorter recovery times compared to surgical biopsies. The samples collected are then analyzed under a microscope for further evaluation.
