Ferdinand III of Castile

Ferdinand III of Castile (1199–1252) was a influential medieval king who unified much of Spain through military conquest and strategic marriage. As the ruler of Castile and León, he expanded territory, fought against Muslim rule in the Iberian Peninsula, and promoted religious and cultural unity. Known as "Ferdinand the Saint," he was canonized later for his piety. His leadership helped lay the foundations for a unified Spain, balancing military strength with religious devotion, and fostering a period of stability and growth in Iberia during the 13th century.
