Executive Agreement

An executive agreement is a formal agreement made between the president of the United States and a foreign government. Unlike treaties, which require Senate approval, executive agreements can be enacted solely by the president. They usually pertain to routine matters like trade or military arrangements and can be more flexible and quicker to negotiate. While they hold legal weight, they generally don't have the same permanence as treaties. Executive agreements are a key tool for U.S. diplomacy, allowing the president to manage foreign relations efficiently.
