ERP therapy techniques

ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) therapy is a cognitive-behavioral approach used mainly for anxiety and OCD. It helps individuals confront feared situations or thoughts (exposure) gradually and safely, without engaging in avoidant behaviors or rituals (response prevention). Over time, this reduces the power of the anxiety or obsession, making reactions less intense and more manageable. The therapy is tailored to the person's fears, helping them build confidence and resilience by learning that their fears are unlikely or manageable, ultimately decreasing avoidance and compulsive behaviors.
