Eric Liddell
Eric Liddell (1902–1945) was a Scottish athlete and Christian missionary, best known for his remarkable achievements in track and field during the 1924 Paris Olympics. He famously refused to run a qualifying race on a Sunday, honoring his religious beliefs, and instead won gold in the 400 meters, an event he had not originally planned to enter. Liddell's commitment to faith and integrity in sports made him a beloved figure. After his athletic career, he served as a missionary in China, where he continued to inspire others until his death in a Japanese internment camp during World War II.
