Epistemic Relativism

Epistemic relativism is the idea that knowledge and truth can vary based on different social contexts, cultures, or frameworks of understanding. In this view, what is considered "true" or "justified" in one group may not hold the same validity in another. This perspective is linked to social epistemology, which studies how social processes, like communication and power dynamics, influence knowledge. Rather than seeing knowledge as absolute, epistemic relativism emphasizes that our beliefs are shaped by our experiences and environments, suggesting that multiple viewpoints can coexist, each with their own rationale for what constitutes knowledge.
