End of War and Armistice
The End of War in World War I refers to the official conclusion of hostilities, marked by the Armistice on November 11, 1918. An armistice is a formal agreement between warring parties to stop fighting while negotiating a peace treaty. In this case, it meant that the Central Powers, especially Germany, agreed to cease combat against the Allied Powers. This cessation ended the four-year war, which had resulted in immense loss of life and destruction. The formal peace treaty, the Treaty of Versailles, would be signed in 1919, laying the groundwork for post-war Europe and future conflicts.
